Annual COAT DRIVE
Audience: Student Council and Homepage
Neil Armstrong PTA Student Council are partnering to make this most successful Coat Drive to date. WE are having a COAT DRIVE for our community partnership school in Pittsburg - Parkside Elementary. There are over 500 students in need of clean, warm coats this year. I have set my goal/challenge for the Student Council to collect 500 coats that are either new or gently used (meaning: clean, zippers work, no holes or stains) for the students at Parkside Elementary. Kids should have warm coats! I BELIEVE in that! These Parkside students can only imagine in their dreams of a DS, a Wii, a bike, so for us to find simply a coat our kids no longer use or wear (and even adult sizes) to give them and keep them warm this year is only giving them a smile and some warmth for the holiday season. To me, we are teaching our kids what it feels like to give rather than receive. Believe it or not, Students love giving! To give students a feeling of empowerment and a feeling that they have given happiness and warmth to an entire school of children will make OUR Neil Armstrong kids and community feel so good! Something the students at Neil Armstrong will remember - ALWAYS! Bins will be in the front parking lot for drop off next week! Please pull forward in Carpool and Student Council leaders will pick up your bags to add convenience to collecting the valuable coats! :) This is the Year of AWARENESS! Student Council, Ms. Maier, Ms. Halonen are making our community AWARE! :) We love Neil Armstrong!
